A prosperous person, they say, is measured by their protruding waistline. Little wonder then, that in these modern times, people prefer not to flaunt their prosperity. With all those folks joining the rat race to keep trim, it is obvious that they have something to hide!

It is a fashion
statement nowadays to keep ones figure under control and
every extra calorie one gains, is burnt at social gatherings
by detailed discussions about diet. Gone are the days when you
would judge kings and chieftains
by the weight they carried. Now even the local Mafia sports
a trim and proper look.
It amazes me, about how one can go on debating about no fat,
sugar free, diet drinks, skimmed stuff and low calories. Some
peoples entire meal can consist of just one apple. You
may not find a workout room, but you will see a weighing scale
in every home and we arent talking about weighing
groceries, mind you.
It is a mid-life crisis for most when they begin to eat less and weigh more. Some begin to assume that it is a penalty for a misdeed they might have done in a previous birth. Some even try to worry in the hope that they will begin to loose weight. Worry turns to panic when you see over-weighted communities in sporting gear, jogging at national parks at the break of dawn. I have been witness to joggers, doing their routines every morning for the last five years, with no effect what-so-ever on their waistline.
It is a tragedy when all your efforts at loosing weight fail. In a world of equals you stand out as the buffoon. But it is not so bad really. Things could have got a lot worse. At least, the amateur photographer on his worldwide tour will not mistake you as a victim of a drought that might have hit your area!
