PROFILE OF THE MONTH: Peter Muzyka
Rustic zeal
This month we brush shoulders with an American
artist, who paints rural landscapes – in addition to using
his creativity for media services.
Peter Muzyka
Egg Tempera Artist,
Commercial Art Director
USA.
My job profile:
As an art director for Walton Media Services: www.waltonmediaservices.com,
I am responsible for the design of brochures, magazines, newsletters,
business stationery, etc. that support our customer's goals. Along
with fellow graphic designer Glenn Chandler, we prepare art for
web media as well as print production.
My favourite color:
Bright deep blue.
My favourite holiday destination:
The coast (any coast).
My idea of spending free time:
Painting, photographing nature, developing personal digital photo
albums and videos, hiking, reading.
My favourite websites:
http://www.creativemac.com because I get a lot of great information
about trends in graphic design and new products.
http://www.photoshopuser.com because I use Adobe Photoshop in both
work and at home. The information and tutorials they supply are
invaluable.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/ so that I can keep up with the news from
different perspectives.
http://www.cherokeeheritage.org/ because I have always been interested
in Native American culture, especially the Cherokee Indians.
My favourite cartoon character:
The Tasmanian Devil.
My favourite artists and people who inspire me:
Andrew Wyeth, Norman Rockwell, George Luther Shelling, Bob Kray,
Howard Purcell, Rembrandt.
My type of music:
I love it all, but if it were necessary for me to pick only one,
I guess that would have to be Jazz.
Some useful tips:
Don't give up on your dreams. Everyone has something positive to
offer society. Teach others, especially the young admirer of your
talents to do something special with their lives.
My ambitions for the future:
To do a series of paintings, film and photographic images outlining
the contributions of older people to their community.
My message to the art community:
Put energy into your work based on love for your craft. Don't do
it "for the money" and lose site of why you became an
artist in the first place.
