Nayampally Marcom Executive, TechNova Imaging Systems (P) Limited Job Profile: |
| literature; web illustrations, and well I could go on & on... | |
We have also started a knowledge-based site on printing technology and allied subjects, which is sponsored by TechNova. For more information on the company please visit technovaworld.com. We take part in a lot of road shows besides holding exhibitions on printing & allied material. We also design exhibition stands and arrange all the display material in-house.
My favourite color:
A lot of people look at me as a colourful character, but I prefer
to be very simple when it comes to colour choices. Moreover, I prefer
a colour that suits the character and the mood for a product, a
type or a photograph that determines the total layout. I also prefer
to work in Black & White because there is so much clarity and
simplicity in doing B/W jobs.

However, personally I prefer the colour Blue. It makes you cool physically and mentally. By the way, did you know that the Maoris in New Zealand know of over 30 or more shades of blue to differentiate the colour of the clouds.
My favourite holiday destination:
GOAaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Where else can I get all the fun and food that
is so economical, besides catching up with old friends. Also Karnataka
which has places like Coorg and Mercara. I have been there, trekking
with my friends, but would love to go there once more with my family.
I have heard a lot about the backwaters of Kerala, which tempts
me to make a trip there too someday.
My idea of spending free time:
I listen to a lot of music and also read a lot of books. I have
just finished Exploring the Infinite by M.C. Escher.
My favourite websites:
http://www.creativepro.com: A one-stop website for all my creative
information. Its simple and cool with a lot of reading material.
Their bulletins are pretty cool too.
http://www.baltahaser.com: When I showed this site to my boss and
friends, they thought it was mind-blowing. A great flash site. It
was like watching a movie online.
http://www.printprocess.net: A site maintained by Heidelberg. Includes
some real cool topics on technology, printing and much more.
http://www.technovaworld.com: I treasure it because a lot of hard
work and thought process has gone into creating it. I would love
to receive feedback about the site and how to improve it further.
http://www.artyears.com: Last but not the least. Most designers
like the new look. It loads quicker and features some cool topics
too. Great work!
My favourite cartoon character:
Tom & Jerry. I watch it with my daughter.
My favourite artists and people who inspire
me:
M.C. Escher: his experiments with illusions is simply mind-blowing.
Great sense as regards to division of space.
Michelangelo: read Agony & Ecstasy and you will know why?
David Ogilvy: for his creative bursts and powerful ads with great
copy.
J Krishanmurty: really influences when you start reading
his speeches.
Pranav Parikh (CMD TechNova): I have learnt a lot of things in life
from my Boss.
Others in my list include Martin Luther King & Sir Winston Churchill.
Mahesh Vengurlekar (Principal, Goa College of Art) the most important
of them all. For it was he who told me to choose between Art and
Life. I choose Art which in turn gave me a sense of Life to live
(too high-funda is it?)
My type of music:
I like listening to new age music, like Afro-Celt, James Asher,
Mynta, Prem Joshua & of course Buddha Bar. Jazz bands like Spyrogyra
& Miles Davis. Also, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led
Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Bryan Adams, Gypsy Kings, Santana and many
more...
Some useful tips:
Believe in yourself, because you hold the key to success in life,
Read a lot. Listen to others and keep your mouth shut once in a
while. If you do all the talking, whos going to listen anyway?
This is a golden rule for a good graphic designer & communicator.
Spend a lot of time with children because you learn a lot from them.
Always watch good movies, they hold clues to what can better be
said than done (practically).
My ambitions for the future:
I wish to teach what I have learnt through the years. Pass on the
experience that I have gained to designers of the next generation.
Basically, I would be thrilled to be on a visiting faculty at a
design institution given a chance.
My message to the art community:
Creativity Reigns Forever!
