Personal schedules
I cannot say that I ever relax other than by falling asleep. If only we worked in normal jobs! In fact, this last three years out in the world has given me some really tough terrain to cover. But it’s a choice really. It is freedom from punching a time clock and being able to stay another day at the beach, without having to call back and ask someone if you can. Overall, being a creative on any level, makes it that you can never ever turn your brain off.

Always seeking something new. The last time out to the Congo, I shot miniDV video, some 12 hours worth of various vignettes and I loved it. The flight back on the 747 from Africa was spent with headphones, thinking how I can make the visuals work to music, when I should have been sleeping like the other normal people on the bus. I’m told that there will be plenty of time to rest at the end of the journey!

Being on a voyage though and my favourite destinations, I love the Lake District in England for its serenity. Stay at the Linthwaite House in Bowness, the best weekend you’ll ever have. Then there’s Zermat in Switzerland. A place lost in time, there isn’t any strife around the world when you go there. It is all about skiing and snow.

The Matterhorn drifting in and out of the cloud cover is an absolutely beautiful place in summer or winter. Then there is without a doubt, my favorite beach. On a small island off the coast of San Diego is Coronado Island. You can drive there straight from the airport, having arrived straight from Europe. It is the home of the US navy on the Western Coast although the island is a sleepy little place that has a really long white sand beach that is simply superb for both swimming and surfing. For a grand time, stay at the Hotel Del Coronado, a bit pricey but if you’re going with a date, it’s the only place to go and it is right on the beach. Otherwise stay at the LaAvenida, a simple little hotel in the shadow of the Del.
