Snowflakes Photography Inspiration

Wed, 09/08/2010 - 18:36
One of these days I was doing a search for images of nature on Flickr and DevianART and was really impressed with the photos I found of snowflakes. Snowflakes are agglomerates of frozen ice crystals falling through the atmosphere on Earth (Wikipedia). What really attracted me in the snowflakes is the fact that each has a unique, harmonic and almost perfectly symmetrical shape. It's for sure one of the most inspiring, different and beautiful source of inspiration found in nature. Hope you like it and after seeing this collection start to look more closely at all these beautiful forms that are out there in nature. rr rocketman

Stunning Illustrations by Warren Louw

Wed, 09/08/2010 - 07:32
Very often I stumble upon some great artists at DeviantART. There are some amazing pieces of work there, from photography to sculptures and illustrations. For me, there isn't just one good style of illustration, but many.

<!--break-->

Warren Louw has got one style that I like very much. Most times it has those classic sketch outlines, and a more realistic coloring, which I really enjoy. I really think thesea re fresh, like the portraits at the end, which are amazing. He's got many other pieces at this portfolio, which I recommend you to visit. I hope you all enjoy these, and if you know any other great artists that make illustrations as stunning as these, tell us! Cheers. ;)

DesignChat Guest: Armin Vit

Wed, 09/08/2010 - 00:57
Wednesday, September 8th at 9pm CST — This week’s conversation is supplemented by the thoughts and opinions of our guest, Armin Vit — one half of the dynamic-duo known to most as UnderConsideration (Armin Vit + wife and co-conspirator, Bryony Gomez-Palacio). We have him about a week before his talk at AIGA Chicago’s Design Thinking II, and we hope to search his head a bit, figuring out what makes him such an effective proponent for good design.

Armin Vit’s career has brought him from his original home in Mexico City, to Chicago, and then to New York (working with Michael Bierut at Pentagram). Today he runs projects through UnderConsideration’s Department of Design in Austin, Texas, and does his best to enjoy time spent with his young family.

Vit has written articles for many of the industry’s leading publications like HOW, STEP, and Eye. He’s also created content for Emigre and the UK-based design publication, Creative Review. As if that wasn’t enough, he continues to oversee the creation of several microblogs and design critique sites while touring the world as a welcomed speaker, talking about what else… our favorite topics… design, branding and typography.

There’s a lot more to Vit then we’ve got here, so check out the links at the end of this post and…

Join us, and Armin Vit, this Wednesday September 8th at 9pm CST, here at

http://designchat.info/chat for a live video and text chat.

It will be great to talk with him and we hope to see you there too.

SPECIAL NOTICE:

The live show is at 9PM CST. That’s one hour later than usual! Don’t miss it.

Daniel James Diggle is a multidisciplinary designer and illustrator based in London, United Kingdom. Random Got Beautiful

Initially, this illustration was due to be a collaboration with another artist with the 'Beautiful' line theirs to interpret. Unfortunately they were unable to do so, thus I moved to finish the piece myself. The result though, was that I rushed the last line and I was entirely unhappy with the outcome. I have however, completely re-drawn the 3'rd line and shall comp it to the original image before the final version is ready to be screenprinted. You can see some of the development and detailing below and a preview of the new 3rd line is at the bottom.

Mysterious Photo Illustrations

Mon, 09/06/2010 - 17:04
Sergey is a Russian photo illustrator with amazing styles. Each piece is very intriguing to the eyes as you try to understand the mystery behind the image. Sergey claims that his works are not like the pros because he doesn't spend a lot of time in each piece and he experiments a lot and that's the base of his amazing style.

Awesome Watercolor Illustrations by Dmitriy

Fri, 09/03/2010 - 07:02
Watercolor is definitely one of the most awesome techniques of illustration. I find truly amazing of how much control and precision artists have over their watered inks to form precise art.

<!--break-->

And I'm probably overwhelmed by it because I have no idea how to do it... but yet, I know something beautifully done when I see it, and that's just the case of the work of Dmitriy Rebus Larin, an Russian in illustration that has done some great pieces of watercolor illustrations. Here I've placed some of them, but for more of his great work, you may visit his portfolio at Behance. I hope you all enjoy these! Cheers. ;)

At Least we Dream - Digital Art

Thu, 09/02/2010 - 17:58
Jonathan M. Foerster is an amazing digital artist with such rich style full of colorful shine elements that intricate the eyes as they look for an understanding. I could look at each piece for a long time and still find the details that will change my point of view.

<!--break-->

To see more from Jonathan visit - atleastwedream.com

I have found comfort and serenity in escapism through different mediums ever since I can remember. Always to be a recluse, quiet and in the constant realms of my head. These realms build upon love, fear, death, life and lust that I cannot render through words. My interpretations are of only mere sketches to what I cannot describe inside me.

Building layer upon layer, obsessing over detail upon detail, my creations come to life after many months of hard work. Through this progression my thoughts and emotions change, and my work will evolve but in the end its core is still intact.

This is just me, attempting to communicate myself through pieces that grow more detailed and time consuming as I, myself grow, change, learn and experience our shared course.

Excellent Minimalist Photography

Wed, 09/01/2010 - 07:00
As many people preach, less is more. Whether in web design or graphic design or illustration or photography or architecture, minimalist composition tend to really make a point. In a visually polluted world, getting some delight for your eyes is really important.

<!--break-->

So forget element heavy photographs... these minimalist pictures got just the right, few elements in it and they're beautiful. I really like the boldness in much of these, and all I want is to look for more of great examples of minimalist photos. One can't get enough of it... so, for more of these bad boys you might visit each photographer's page by clicking the pictures. Logo Inspiration: Comic Characters

Fri, 08/27/2010 - 09:52
Everyone likes superheroes and other comic book characters. There is a plethora of stories and with subjects ranging from humor to the morbid. Comic books are deeply rooted in global culture, so that today we have several film adaptations of great box office.

Something that is very interesting is when we see superheroes as brands, some of them are easily identifiable by color and shapes. I usually say that the most famous are precisely those that are most remembered. So I decided to make a selection with the logos of super heroes that I thought were the most important and also my favorites. Hope you enjoy it.

Rainy-Day Photography

Fri, 08/27/2010 - 07:25
I love those little moments when nature shows its beauty. One of those moments that I truly like is a good old rainy day during the weekend, when you just get to hang at home, watch a movie, eat popcorn, drink hot cocoa and enjoy all of it.

<!--break-->

So I looked for some pictures of rainy days and found some beautiful examples of it. Anywhere in the world, you might capture a great rainy-day photograph... it's all up to you. These are some great pictures by amazing photographers, and I really recommend you to visit their pages at Flickr by clicking their pictures, for more great pictures. They'll appreciate. I hope you enjoy these. Cheers! ;)

Eight Days in Haiti - Photos by Bobby Moon

Thu, 08/26/2010 - 22:39
Bobby Moon is one of our readers and regular Daily Inspiration contributors. Lately Bobby sent us some pretty interesting photos to feature at DI, images from a series called Eight Days in Haiti. As the images are really beautiful we decided to show more of them here to you.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Bobby Moon, 22, attended Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, and is graduating from Santa Clara University with a degree in Marketing, and he is a self-taught photographer. He got involved with Somos Amigos Medical Missions in 2008, and was with the organization in the hills of the Dominican Republic on January 12, when the 7.0 magnitude quake stuck Haiti, less than 50 miles away. He went to Haiti to cover the aftermath of the quake in late March for Eight Days.

Photos were featured on CNN and by The All-American Rejects. Make sure to visit Bobby's gallery and portfolio to check out the complete series.
